I am a Chess Player. Love, Love, LOVE the game! I was taught very young, around 6 years of age. My father and older brother taught me the moves around an old card table. Back in the 60's most familys gathered round the T.V. set to watch sports on the weekends. Our family used to play chess instead. I remember watching them play and wanted so badly to find out why they would sit and stare at this board for so long!. I thought there must be something magical about those pieces for them to be so interested. I wanted to be part of the group and join in on their discussions, it seemed like such a grown up thing and I wanted IN! So I sat quietly and watched and listened to EVERYTHING they were doing. I would ask questions after the game was over and soon learned how things were done. I had a knack for it from the beginning. I played in school, I played after school and I played at work. Chess had a strong influence on me through out my whole life. Chess is good for the soul and I love teaching to willing students. With the last sentence in mind, I hope this blog is of some, (at least a little) help to those trying to learn about this wonderful game.

Chess Problem #1
Mate in 4
White to move.
This position came from one of my games many years ago. I was playing the White pieces and started the game with the King's Gambit Accepted. See if you can find the answer.
